Due to the success of the first edition and the great interest shown by the students, COMES Cultural Association has organized the second edition of the International Music Course Medieval and Renaissance of Morella, scheduled from July 19th to 25th 2013. The course has an agreement with the International University Menéndez Pelayo, in charge of granting free credits to all students enrolled in Valencian universities, and the Federation of Music Societies of Valencia with scholarships for a selected group of students, the collaboration of the Conservatory of Castellón ‘’Salvador Segui », the Superior Institute of Art Teachings Valencia, which grants credits to eligible students engaged in course successfully, and also counts with the collaboration of the Valencian Institute of Music (GVA).
This 2nd edition includes some new features due to the experience of the previous edition as well as the demands made by students in a quality test. Accordingly, during the weekend (July 19th to 21th) will be held as a festival, filled with concerts and other activities as an educational exhibition of lutheria by the Spanish Society of Vihuela, a fringe by students or a medieval dinner. The other days will develop the lessons and activities of the course, among which include workshops, lectures, concerts and guided tours of the historic Morella, all conjugated to promote tourism and the cultural aspect of the city.
The concerts will be in the gothic city hall of Morella, the Archpriest Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, built between 1265 and 1330. Also in the Real Convento de San Francisco, which was founded in 1272 and retains a Gothic cloister and where we can still find in its Chapter House a fifteenth century painting depicting a medieval dance: The Dance of the Death.
