Message from Peter Bavington:
“Thieves have broken into the Conservatoire at Parma, Northern Italy, and stolen an antique clavichord. It is an anonymous fretted instrument, compass C-f3, fully restored and in playing order, and according to the Conservatoire was probably made in the first half of the eighteenth century. It was on long-term loan to the Conservatoire from the estate of the harpsichordist Laura Alvini, who died in 2005. A modern viola da gamba was stolen at the same time. The theft was discovered on 5 January, when the Conservatoire re-opened after the New Year holiday; police enquiries are continuing. Anyone with information should contact the Conservatoire by e-mail: email@example.com or telephone +39 0521 381911.”For a news report (in Italian), see here.
